Are board games just  games to kids?

I don't think that board games are just games to kids. If you know what are board games, you'll know there are a lot of kinds of them. Such as cooperative games ,strategy game and family games. 
When kids play a family game with parents ,they'll be attention on that and their parents. It could be helpful to close parent-child relationship .On the other hand ,when the kids play a cooperative game ,they'll know that the importance of cooperation.  They will begin to understand that they can't always use competition to win. If they want to be selfish  ,they will always lose in that game. 
Not only the above two reasons, but also most of the board games are thematic. Why thematic is important to kids? When they touch the themed things ,those will help them increase their imagination and creativity. Perhaps they will make a story for this board game, or they will play with the character of this game in the dream. It is good for them in the future to be a imaginative and creative person.
Board games are not just games to the kids , they can learn a lot when they are playing.
